Psychological Evaluations in Custody Decisions

 

Pursuant to Section 604(b) a court may appoint a guardian ad litem for the children to investigate the circumstances of the custody case and to report back to the court.

 

The court may also appoint a psychiatrist or other mental health professional to negotiate a joint parenting agreement, to conduct evaluations of the parties and the children, and to report back to the court.
